5 Tips for Your Self-Care Routine

The importance of taking time for yourself and treating your mind and body right is insane. When I forget to do this, I tend to fall into a slump, which is completely normal but can be difficult to get out of.  It may be hard to pinpoint what causes them but I believe that I have perfected a self-care formula to lift anyone out of their slump. Everyone is different so you may only need to take a few of my tips, pop in your own and build your own routine. Here are my tips for self-care.

“Exercise gives you endorphins, endorphins make you happy and happy people just don’t shoot their husbands”. Elle Woods sums it up perfectly, this is exactly why it’s so great to exercise. Not only is it good for your physical health, it’s good for your mental as well.

two // READ
I have recently been reading (NOT re-reading) Harry Potter. Yes, this is my first time and holy crap it is amazing. Let’s just say I get it, I get it now, it all makes sense, I’m late to the party, but I get it. Anyway, one thing I have noticed is a lift in my mood. Being able to imagine a new world that’s created through words put together on a page has been the most relaxing part of my day.

three // UNPLUG
As much as I LOVE my phone, my laptop and my Instagram, it’s a real addiction that can sometimes cause more harm than good. Taking a day or two to unplug from the online world can be completely refreshing and good for the soul.

Or, just stop and breathe. One thing I practise daily is taking an hour to myself to ponder, attract positive thoughts and energy, and sometimes… scroll Pinterest, hey! anything to make you happy, am I right? In order to set a good pace for the rest of the day, I like to do this first thing in the morning. I know it may seem hard, but I swear I’ve gotten used to it; I set my alarm to go off 1 hour earlier than I need it to, I get up, make a cup of coffee and do my thing. It’s my favourite part of my day.

When you’re feeling down and need some cheering up, nothing feels better than taking yourself for a little TLC. For me, it is a mini shopping spree at Sephora. It always feels so amazing leaving Sephora with a product or 5 that will make me feel more confident and beautiful. Find your way of treating yourself and do it, like, today or tomorrow, whatever works. #NoRegrets
